I totally relate with Kanye!

I am also married to a woman with an ass so big, she has another set of legs to support it. You probably know me from my latest work in The wife of Pablo (porn). Also, my child is named SXSW (the location of my favorite taco truck).

You could totally spend money on your ideas, just don’t be dumb about it. Instead of trying to fire up a 9-figure fashion business off the bloody bat, start with one boutique in one fancy rich area. Don’t do it all on your own; bring in people who know something about the industry, have experience, know something about what people who might buy something like this from you would like to wear and actually have talent and experience in designing premium clothing that someone might find appealing.

Make something appealing, and Limit the supply at first to build demand (people always want what they can’t have). Bring it to a slow boil, and let word of mouth among your first affluent customers do most of the work for you. You advertise also of course, but that’s more about making people aware that you do fashion stuff now. A lot of people will write you off no matter who you are if they don’t get to hear how an actual human being who has brought and used whatever your selling feels about their purchase. Building that is more important than all the glossy Vanity Fair ads your millions can buy you.

If you’re lucky, you steal some market share from a medium sized name in the premium fashion industry, build from there, open up a few more boutiques, do a few more fashion shows, build some recognition and get taken seriously by customers and power brokers alike. Things will accelerate from there. If you’re not so lucky...well, it was just one boutique in one city, no big deal. It doesn’t matter if you’re Kanye West, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, or Jesus Christ; you can’t build a multibillion dollar organization that pushes out all other competitors after being in the market for 5 minutes by yourself with just your name recognition and nothing else. You have to prove yourself. And you have to keep doing it, forever.
